My name is Wes. I am a Christian, husband, civil engineer, and photographer. I am married to my best friend. We both went to Arab High School in Arab, Alabama. We also both attended Auburn University. We dated for 6 years and finally tied the knot on May 22, 2004. We have lived quiet a few places in the past few years. I work for the US Army Corps of Engineers and have moved around since 2004 when I graduated. Montgomery, AL; Key Largo, FL; Mobile, AL; Tuscaloosa, AL; Huntsville, AL; and now we are in Jacksonville, AL. Hopefully we will be here for a while. I enjoy my job and Allison enjoys hers. We love our church (FBC Jville). We teach the college sunday school class and we are involved in a great Bible Study class with several other couples our age. We don't know what God has in store for us, but we wouldn't complain if we were here for a while.

As for photography...

I have always had a love for photography. My great uncle, who was more like a second grandfather, was a photographer in Guntersville, AL. I used to go to the studio and stay with "Nana and Papa" while they were working. Papa would let me take pictures when no one was there. But most of my time was spent playing tape ball home run derby. Yes - Nana and Papa had a lot of patience. :) My other photography influence was my mother. She constantly had her camera out taking pictures when I was growing up. I got so annoyed...and now I do the same thing. I'm sure my kids will get annoyed like I did.

I have been a point-n-shooter for many years. I came on late to digital and also to learning to shoot with an SLR. All the photos in the "Sunset's of Key Largo" albulm were taken with a Kodak Easyshare Z740. I bought a Nikon D80 in Sept of 2006. My cousin and her husban shoot weddings in Columbia, SC. She convinced me to buy a DSLR and to go with a Nikon. She said it would take a while to learn to navigate an SLR, but I would be amazed at how much better my photos would be in 1 year. Well, she was right. My photos are a lot better. Of course, my very first shot with the D80 was so over exposed you could barely tell it was my wife. I wish I would have saved it, but I was embarrassed so I promptly sent it to the trash. With that kind of first shot, I had nowhere to go but up.

My passion is for nature/landscape photography. I love to go out with Allison and Buck (our 5 yr old golden retriever) and just enjoy God's creation. In our hectic society, it is imperative for a person to find some down time. For me, there is something about being surrounded by nature. It is peaceful...it is serene...it is my way of "being still." Psalms 46:10.

We have recently started to do Senior Portraits, Family Portraits, and other photography events. It is exciting to be at the right place at the right time with your camera ready and be able to capture a memory. You can find my prices here.

I hope you enjoy our website. Be sure to drop us a comment and give us a thumbs up on the pics you like!
